Congratulations to Cannon Lab members of the Occidental College Class of 2017!

Nick, Natalie, and Ed presented posters at the ACS National meeting in San Francisco. It was great to share our work and learn a lot about new chemical advances!

Natalie Dwulet is a recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, and Nick Foy and Alex Rand were also awarded honorable mention!

All six of Occidental’s awardees this year were chemistry or biochemistry majors!

Molly Brown ’18 is one of this year’s Fletcher Jones Science Scholars at Occidental! This prestigious award will support Molly’s research to develop new carbon-carbon bond forming reactions in our lab for the next year, and allow her to present her discoveries at a national conference of her choice. Congrats!

Members of the Cannon Lab presented on their research at this year’s Southern California Conference on Undergraduate Research and UC Riverside yesterday. Students enjoyed talks and poster presentations by their peers at nearby colleges and universities.

This year’s chemistry tea was another fun afternoon of good food and chemistry. Students and faculty mingled to talk about chemistry research while enjoying tea, pie, and of course Prof. Lasater’s tea cookies!

Our grant application to study enantioselective titanium catalysts for reductive reactions of ketones was funded by the American Chemical Society Petroleum research fund! This grant will help fund more summer researchers to study new methods for carbon-carbon bond formation!

Group members presented their research at the Occidental summer research conference earlier this month. Lots of great results and, of course, future work.
